I am a new and (mostly) self-taught quilter who rarely follows patterns. I grew up on the opposite side of the world from the quilters in my family but have always marveled at the amazing work they create. I have been lucky enough to be the recipient of several of these amazing quilts (thanks, Grandma!), which is what initially sparked my interest in creating them in the first place.

Patterns don’t quite do it for me. The idea of copying someone else’s work verbatim doesn’t entice me even if that’s the purpose of patterns. Since I can’t do anything the easy way, I force myself to try a new technique on every quilt, often make up my own patterns as I go, change direction in the middle of a project, or pursue new and creative (or crazy) ways of quilting to get the results I am after.
Though quilting is not my only creative outlet, it is what I have been most focused on for the past few years. I am excited to share my quilting journey with you and I hope you enjoy my progress as much as I have. Our work improves when we share ideas, so please leave me a comment or email if you have something helpful to offer.
